Sherwin Carballo

Sherwin Carballo, your immigration attorney in the city of Los Angeles, is proud to offer the highest quality of immigration services, at reasonable prices and with payment plans available.

Sherwin Carballo was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States with his brother and parents at the age of 5. During his early childhood he lived in Echo Park, California, immersed in a Spanish-speaking community. He graduated Cum Laude in Philosophy from USC (he also studied Spanish and French).

Sherwin attended Loyola Law School as a Loyola Scholar, which entitled him to a full-tuition scholarship.

He was admitted to the California State Bar in December 2006. Sherwin improved his language skills by living abroad.

He learned to speak Spanish fluently while teaching English in Costa Rica, and while studying in Madrid, Spain, and studied French in Paris, France.

He also grew up in a bilingual (English and Filipino) home.Regarding immigration, we handle Adjustment of Status cases, family petitions, immigration waivers, deferred action (Dream Act), the U visa, and more. Immigration laws in the United States are extremely complex and constantly changing, government expenses are very expensive, and your family's future in this country is very valuable.

These are just some of the reasons why you should not trust your case with just any law firm.

You should be sure to choose an attorney whose practice focuses on immigration law.

Here at the Law Offices of Sherwin C. Carballo, we focus on immigration law, which means that your case will be analyzed by an immigration attorney, and not a paralegal.Another thing that sets the office of Sherwin C. Carballo apart from other immigration law firms is Attorney Sherwin C. Carballo's extensive experience handling cases of immigrants with a criminal record. Here at the Law Offices of Sherwin C. Carballo we are committed to being honest, hardworking and aggressive when it comes to fighting to win your case.

Immigration Waivers

Attorney Carballo has a lot of experience preparing various types of pardons. The first step of forgiveness, and the most important step, is to analyze his case. The attorney can give you advice on how to obtain the necessary evidence to support her immigration waiver. It is not easy to earn an immigration waiver. He should not risk his case with someone who is not a real immigration attorney.

Adjustment of Status

Adjustment of status is the process of applying for permanent residence within the United States, without leaving the country. Typically, those who qualify for Adjustment of Status are those who entered the country with a visa, or who are covered by law 245(i). In the Los Angeles area, an Adjustment of Status case is taking approximately 12-18 months, but within 4-5 months you will receive your work permit.

Family Petition

If you are a permanent resident of the US, or a US citizen, you have the right to file a family petition for your close relatives. The family petition is not an application for residency, but is the first step on the path to permanent residence. Depending on where your family member is, and how they entered the US, will determine whether they qualify to apply for permanent residence within the US, or if they have to process their residency for fear of consular processing in their country of origin. But in both cases, the family request is the first step.

U VISA

(Crime Victims)

The U Visa is an immigration program for people who have been victims of certain crimes, and who helped with the investigation of the case. Only certain criminal charges qualify for the U visa, and the Police or Prosecutor in the case must sign a certification verifying the assistance the applicant provided in the case. After holding the U visa for three years, certain people can apply for permanent residence.

Domestic Violence

Victims of domestic violence may receive protection under immigration laws if they have been victimized by a resident or citizen spouse. Also, people abused by their citizen children can request VAWA protection. Having an approved VAWA petition entitles you to a work permit, and you can also apply for permanent residence.

Citizenship

If you have had your permanent residence for 5 years, or for 3 years if you became a resident through marriage to a citizen and you are still living with the same citizen, then you can now apply for citizenship. But before applying, you must analyze your case to be sure that you have all the requirements to qualify for citizenship. Additionally, if you have been arrested by the police, you should consult with an immigration attorney before filing your citizenship application.

Consular Process

If you want to immigrate your family members, but they are outside the United States, you need the services of a lawyer who has experience with the consular process of the particular country. Each US embassy has certain different requirements, and each country has different biographical documents, and it is very important to hire an attorney who will know exactly what documents your family members need to facilitate your immigration process to the US.
